Summer Wedding at Beach Cliff in Two Harbors October 21, 2008

My friend Anna and her new husband Dave recently got married at Beach Cliff in Two Harbors.  They had a wonderful day!  Congrats Anna and Dave and happy wedded bliss!-Kris

Anna’s and Dave’s Wedding:

The north shore and Cascade Property rentals played a huge role in one of the most important days of my life – my wedding!  Originally from Minnesota, I always wanted an outdoor wedding ceremony somewhere along the north shore, but planning a wedding from Colorado (and depending on the weather) was a challenge.  On a wedding planning trip home the fall before the big day, my friend Kris suggested checking out Beach Cliff House – a vacation get-away just north of Two Harbors.  The second I saw it I knew it was the place for me!

We rented the property over the 4^th of July weekend.  The house was perfect.  The night before our wedding my fiancé and I sat on the back deck and watched the fireworks.  We were able to see them from Duluth, as well as from the point just south of the house.  It was wonderful to spend some alone time together and listen to the waves crashing against the shore. 

 

The day of the wedding I was able to get ready in the privacy of the upstairs rooms with my girlfriends and early arrivals could relax downstairs with a drink and a snack before the ceremony.  We were blessed with a beautiful day and the front lawn worked perfectly for setting out the chairs.  We didn’t even need decorations – they would have just detracted from the amazing view.  Afterwards, the lawn and surrounding shore became a backdrop for gorgeous wedding photos.  We headed to Superior for dinner and our wedding reception, knowing that we would be able to come back and enjoy another day alone together in a beautiful and peaceful setting.

Rental Survey Winner!! October 15, 2008

We would first like to thank everyone for filling out the survey.  We were overwelmed by the number of responses we got.  Your comments were great and we have already put a plan into action to change some of our website features so the site will be easy and user friendly.

The winner chosen today is Margaret and Veijo.  They have been coming to the North Shore for years and are excited about their upcoming stay at Aspenwood 6526!!

Bear Encounters October 6, 2008

Last week I was sitting at the dinner table and Will (7) said, “There is a bear in the field pappa!”.  Sure enough I turned around and there was a bear on the far side of the field eating something.  I don’t know for sure but I sort of suspect he/she was eating mushrooms.  I grabbed my camera and ran out the door to take a picture.  On my way out, I asked Will to watch his Lexi (1.5) while I grabbed a picture.   I ran out and took this shot. 

 

This was actually my second encounter with a bear a short time.  I have been clearing trails out in the woods and left my saw, oil, and gas out in the woods over night.  I returned to fetch these items and found that something, I think a bear, had tried to eat the oil and gas.   Below is a picture of the cans I brought back from the woods.  The saw case had a few holes in it…but no damage.
